Your Alumni Network

A large portion of your current skilled workforce is approaching retirement. Do you have a plan to ensure consistency of institutional knowledge? How will you reach retired employees to re-engage them for short-term or part-time project work?

The Future Workforce

The Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) estimates that by 2018, with no change in current labor force, there will be more jobs than people to fill them. The (BLS) also estimates that by 2022 we will need 3 million additional workers to fill the least-skilled jobs.

But if projections hold, there won’t be enough Americans participating in the workforce for any skill level. The BLS projects that the total number of new U.S. workers ages 25 to 54 in the workforce between 2012 and 2022 will grow by only 1.9 million. The number of new workers 16 to 24 years old—who are mostly now in elementary school—will actually drop by 2.8 million in 2022.

The Baby Boomer Retirement Crisis

  • Companies are looking 5-10 years ahead at their workforce and identifying potential future skills gaps.
  • When employees with institutional knowledge retire, companies are challenged to find ways to ensure consistency.
  • The retiree workforce and their employers must stay compliant with ERISA regulations.
  • Reaching out to and re-engaging retired workers can be a time-consuming and costly process.

Solution: Harnessing The Gig Economy

  • As employees are off-ramped at retirement, they have the option to add themselves to Checks and Balance’s database of available talent.
  • Because of our recruitment services, the retiree could be available to start project work in as little as one day.
  • There is no recruiting involved when utilizing our Alumni Network, thus reducing costs for the employer.
  • We provide advisory services to transition retirees to the next phase, and ensure compliance with all regulations.
