In The Community

The greatness of a community is a direct reflection of its people and that includes business people.  As I have grown my company, I have been as committed to my community as I have to my business. The two are inseparable. Looking back over the past 30 years, I am proud of the quality of life in my community and feel privileged to have worked to help support that progress in education, healthcare, social programs and the arts, as well as being a vital part of its business growth. It is a journey I treasure and plan for Employment Enterprises to continue on the path of community involvement.

Employment Enterprises sponsors Transitional Housing BARN's 10th Annual "Festival of Trees".

Employment Enterprises was the title sponsor for Transitional Housing BARN's 10th Annual "Festival of Trees" held in 2008. The event was a fundraiser and celebration of helping homeless women and their children reach self-sufficiency.

Transitional Housing BARN, Inc., located in Bristow, Virginia, provides homeless women and their children with temporary housing, supportive services, and programs such as counseling, life skills, case management, financial management, child development and education. The program ends homelessness for these families and provides them a path to self-sufficiency.

During its eleven years, BARN has help over 120 women and 234 children. As residents complete the program, BARN provides them with six months of follow-up services and continues to track them for a year to ensure success. Since starting the program in 1997, BARN has remained at capacity and 96% of the families that have completed the program have sustained both permanent housing and financial independence.

On average, BARN receives requests from twenty families per month that must be turned away due to lack of space available.

For more information about how you can help the families of BARN, please visit www.barninc.org or call 703-369-1325.
